Idea about illusions

May 12, 2010

This work is about illusion, making things move unbelievable.
It is very interesting like playing against the common nature and others mind.
So mindblowing.

“This kind of optical illusion, which I named “Impossible Motion”, was discovered in my engineering research for machine interpretation of line drawings. In order to check the behavior of my software, I gave what are called “pictures of impossible objects” as the input expecting the software to judge them impossible. However, my software sometimes interprets “pictures of impossible objects” as actual solids, from which I found that some of “pictures of impossible objects” are not impossible; they can be constructed although general angles are used where they look rectangular.”

Maybe I can make something confuse others mind visually in the future, defying the physical law and common sense.

Idea about material

May 10, 2010

When making installation, choice of material is a very important step.
Every material have its own character and properties, and have its meaning add by people too.

This installation is by Alex Suarez, called WhiteOut, is made of panels of thermally-bonded polypropylene filaments that having static electric charge on it naturally, when people walk by, the sheet will dance with the people, so poetic…

Using one material property wisely, interesting thing will happen.

Such as using smoke to make pattern follow by movement of air, maybe very dreamy with light partner with it.

Idea about light

May 3, 2010

Light is a very amazing energy wave that let us see things, every object we perceive is because of lights. So when something is built upon lights its probably always beautiful.

An artist Gwenael Nicolas made this artwork that make beautiful lights on a string except its beauty, the light is emitted out from very sharp crystal that can hurt people.

Building dangerous thing look beautiful is something quite irony, and yet its sometimes true that beauty can kill.

Idea about mind

May 1, 2010

Recently the market appears several toys using your brain waves to control, that is your mind.
And an ITP blog appear on the net teach us how to hack those toy and make art work.

Than an Idea comes to me that I could use those toy maybe just to sit down and perform music pieces. So comfort and interesting…

Idea about craftmanship

April 27, 2010

With some craftmanship, one can turn an ordinary object into something extremely breath taking.
Look at this:

It was a drinking straw. And it became a prawn. It is so amazing that it give me idea that a little piece pick around us can turn into something extraordinary.

Idea about time

April 3, 2010

This is a work which is a clock runs for 100 year for a complete cycle…
It’s called “Time in Six Parts” by Che-Wei Wang.

Which probably will older than me.

Take sooo long and let us rethink our time is so relative and our scale is so small.

STICK

March 8, 2010

People always stick tags, labels or meanings on others but one not intend to be like what the others said. It’s often hardly for us to change others’ stereotype or labelling especielly when mass media do such thing.

My works is expressing the feeling on this issue, being stick with word practising paper and let others pour ink or do what they want.

There are no words on it, no expression.

Fotanian 2010

January 23, 2010

We visited Fotanian open day 2010.

I was here last year, visited several art gallery and studio. There are not great changes, still interesting to see others’ hard works and their working space.

Really appreciate about people’s spending time to craft something pleasure to view.

Their work serve for themselves as well as others, maybe in the work they can find themselves.

First try

January 20, 2010

Our first try for earth installation.

We look around and discover a broken tree. We use it and the fragmented wood placed on the giant rock.

Just like falling on it naturally, the shadow cast on the rock made by the yellowish street light, was quite beautiful indeed.

A heavy rock placed on the wood, suspending in the air supported by the thin stems.

It was fun and I like combining things together.
